Is Uptober Real? Bitcoin Cycles Today After a 6.4% September

A new month. The same question: where are we in the cycle?

Bitcoin finished September up 6.4%. So is Uptober real? October closed higher in 10 of 13 years from 2013 to 2025. But Bitcoin cycles don’t follow a calendar. Today, October 5, remi shows Accumulation.

September ended green. October arrived with a nickname and a lot of confidence.

Did Bitcoin have a good September?

For the month, yes. Bitcoin went from about $78,563 to $83,556, using Coinbase’s UTC daily closes. That’s +6.4%.

It wasn’t a smooth climb. There were 15 up days and 15 down days. The final number looks calmer than the month felt.

Does “Uptober” hold up?

There’s history behind the nickname: October finished higher in 10 of the 13 years from 2013 through 2025, measured using Bitstamp’s monthly closes. Three finished lower, including 2025.

So Uptober is a real historical pattern. It is not a phase on the chart.

Did Bitcoin’s cycle change when October began?

“Uptober” makes a new month feel like a new chapter. But did Bitcoin’s cycle actually change? That’s the question remi’s free Cycle Index helps answer. When a headline makes you feel like everything just shifted, you can check where Bitcoin actually sits in the broader cycle.

Today, October 5, remi shows Accumulation. That’s the yellow stretch on its chart before Bull Run. Bitcoin is on day 120. September rose, but the cycle label hasn’t changed.

Wondering whether that phase is starting to shift? remi shows that too. The orange warning says conditions are lining up toward Bull Run, but nothing has flipped yet. You can see the phase Bitcoin is in today and what may be developing next, instead of letting an “Uptober” headline make the call for you.

August 2022–June 2023315 daysA Bull Run chapter, including Euphoria, with a later high around $126,000 in 2025.

The 2022 chapter is a useful reality check: October rose 5.5% inside that second yellow stretch. Bitcoin was around $21,500 when Accumulation began, fell to about $15,500 that November, and was around $30,500 when the phase ended in June 2023. The later $126,000 high came in 2025. A green October didn’t settle the cycle by itself.

This is why we built remi. A catchy market story can make you second-guess everything. We hear the story. Then we check the chart and see what has actually changed.

Headlines can drive emotion-based trading. remi helps take the emotion out of it by giving you a place to check Bitcoin’s phase. October can have its nickname. We’ll keep looking at the bigger picture.

Less noise. A clearer view of the cycle.
